Rail leisure is a product portfolio of the National Railways of Zimbabwe’s Passenger Services whose mandate is to provide a special touring experience through recreational and leisure activities for steam enthusiasts, tourists and adventure seeking travellers.
It has designed product ranges to satisfy different time frames as well as a variety of locations, tastes and interests. We operate both short and long distance safari trains. These trains are mainly hauled by steam locomotives as you capture the romance and atmosphere of a bygone era aboard the wood paneled coaches still in their original condition.

SHORT EXCURSIONS
Valentine Sashay
This is one of Rail leisure’s most innovative excursions aimed at providing a romantic evening to remember for the loved ones on the eve of Valentine’s day. Love birds are treated to a short late afternoon run to a nearby resort. Dinner is served under candle light while a dance coach is made available with soft music.
Family Funday
these tours are aimed at giving families a time out of their busy schedules and hustles of city life to just relax.
Meals include breakfast hamper and bush style braai/ barbeque luncheons while sacks are served on board.
Run pasts are given to allow for photos.
Sundowner
Watch the African sun setting as it casts its glow across the authentic flora and fauna thus creating a spectacular panorama. This is a short, lazy evening run with dining cars only for sundown beverages and dinner. It is an exceptional package
Game Jaunt
The game jaunt passes through the Hwange National Park the biggest in Zimbabwe and gives travelers an opportunity to view what Africa probably looked like a hundred years ago. This antique haven of fauna is better traversed by an equally antique steam train to give the traveler the definitive African Experience.
